Señora Moscoso: New Spanish Teacher on Staff

The World Language department welcomes new Spanish teacher, Señora Mabel Moscoso, as she takes on the position left mid-year by Señora Jennifer Shepherd. She brings her distinguished credentials, including her position as a Lecturer of Spanish at WSU, and is known for her illustrious career in Spanish education.
“[Moscoso] had an extensive teaching background and Spanish background,” Principal Chris Bloomer said. “So, we thought, all right, this is someone who could be a good fit for our school.”
Originally from the Dominican Republic, Moscoso was educated at Colegio Sagrado Corazón de Jesús for elementary school and high school before going to university at Pontificia University Católica Madrey Maestra.
“She attended a Catholic school in her home country,” Bloomer said. “And she is a very, very devout Catholic.”
Her knowledge of the language and her willingness to teach at any level is what drew Bloomer towards his decision.
“She is very adept,” Bloomer said. “Sometimes teachers only prefer the introductory level or they only prefer a certain group of students, and she is equipped to teach at any level.”
Moscoso said she is very excited to see how her students will grow over the semester.
“I want to get to know each kid, and see how they improve their speaking by the end,” said Moscoso.
Students have already expressed their appreciation for Moscoso’s teaching style, especially how it gives them opportunities to use their knowledge in practical settings.
“She always encourages us to make mistakes," said sophomore Sophie Chaney. “And she doesn’t mind if we mess up. She’s very motivating.”
Bloomer said he feels extremely blessed to have such a talented and faithful teacher on staff. He voiced his gratitude at finding someone so flexible who perfectly meshes with KMC.
“It’s one thing to say we found a teacher,” Bloomer said, “but to find a teacher who is a good fit, that is even better.”
